Wikipedia disects poetry into a form of literary art in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, its apparent meaning.
Reading at the description above, I can’t help but think that it’s a cold, academic evaluation of what poetry is.
I believe it’s more than that. Poetry frees the soul. Frees the mind. The rythm of the words flowing together in a wonderful tapestry of aural delights when recited out loud. It’s a painting of words. When done right, each word takes on a new role, a new life, a new sense of being. In poetry, rarely is a word ever wasted. Every word had a purpose.
I enjoy writing poems mostly on the topics of love in its many forms and guises, but I equally enjoy writing poems on feelings, drawing together the sensations of a season or a event and tying the threads together to weave a poem.
This is my repository of the work I’ve done that I’ve seen fit to publish.
