Poem: Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2009

Here’s a poem I wrote in 2009 for a company e-card for Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Enjoy!

The crescent moon signals Raya’s coming dawn,
And the ending of holy month of Ramadan,

We celebrate together anew in family and community,
The joyous festival of Aidilfitri.

Together on this joyous day we pray,
For overflowing blessings to come your way,

And may you always receive Allah’s guidance,
For every circumstance and every instance.

And may we come to forgive and forget,
Any and all past wrongs we’ve had,

As we too ask forgiveness from,
Parents and loved ones in our homes.

While enjoying wonderful delicacies on offer,
May happiness spread between brother and sister,

Let us always remember,
Joys are doubled when shared together.

May your home be graced with warmth and happiness! Selamat Hari Raya!
