Poem: New Year message for 2009

Written as a giant SMS (oxymoron?) for my friends while I was taking an evening walk around my apartment:

When New Year rolls around again,

And Auld Lang Syne rings out its whimsical refrain,

Hugs and kisses spread all round,

Joyful wishes for the New Year come,

So I send these wishes to you,

For joy and peace and love so true,

For bountiful harvests in your chosen vocation,

For good tidings come the ‘morrow,

For fruitful endeavors on every occasion,

For bright hope for tomorrow,

For strength in troubled times,

For serenity in times of loss,

And for courage to snatch the lines of opportunity.

Dear friend, may our paths cross many times and bring forth growth in each of us.

Happy 2009!
