Poem: Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid ul-Fitr) – Ramadan Mubarak

End of Ramadan

Here’s a poem I wrote in 2009 for a company e-card for Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid ul-Fitr). Enjoy!

The crescent moon signals Raya’s coming dawn,
And the ending of the holy month of Ramadan,

We celebrate together anew in family and community,
The joyous festival of Aidilfitri.

Together on this joyous day we pray,
For overflowing blessings to come your way,

And may you always receive Allah’s guidance,
For every circumstance and every instance.

And may we come to forgive and forget,
Any and all past wrongs we’ve had,

As we too ask forgiveness from,
Parents and loved ones in our homes.

While enjoying wonderful delicacies on offer,
May happiness spread between brother and sister,

Let us always remember,
Joys are doubled when shared together.

May your home be graced with warmth and happiness! Selamat Hari Raya! Ramadhan Mubarak!

  2. good morning sir. may i copy this poem for my student’s performance at my school? its just for a show, not competition. and if possible, can i edit it a little bit to make it suitable with the school-themed? thanks a lot and may god bless you

    • Thanks for asking and very happy that this poem resonated with you enough to ask.

Happy for you to use it and edit it to fit your school-theme. I just ask that you credit this as inspiration and include my name as well please. Thanks. It’s not for my own glory. It’s more for Malaysians to see more cohesion between races.
